Software Freedom Day is a free “Open Source Carnival” like event being held at Singapore Management University and includes presentations, exhibits as well as an “InstallFest” where you can get Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Red Hat, Novell and Sun Microsystems are the notable presenters of the event.

Sun Microsystems recently pushed a java update down to users, sneaking in an OpenOffice Installer. One would think that a technology company would think twice after the recent debacle over Apple’s recent push of the safari browser along with iTunes updates. Looks like the industry is about to cry FOUL … again.
